Between the Aberdare Mountain Range and Mt Kenya lies a gem of biodiversity – Sangare Conservancy. There are three enchanted Valleys, plains and bush land, dams, wetlands, rivers and an abundance of bird and wildlife. In one of these valleys where the Ancient Riverine forest has been preserved either side of the Amboni River which runs off the Aberdare Mountains the Amboni Riverine Forest Camp is situated.
Nestled on the valley floor under the canopy of tall wild Palms, giant Newtonia and Podo trees amongst other diverse flora, is the Amboni Riverine Forest Camp. Here below the steep cliffs where eagles and falcons soar, the fringe forests of wild olives. There is a wilder world full of bird life, forest animals and of course the run of the river which is bi annually stocked with rainbow trout.
The Amboni Riverine forest camp consists of four tents on decks, with ensuite bathrooms Equipped with bath, shower and composting loo. Solar power is used for all lighting. Finished to reflect the forest with an organic look that is warm and comfortable, set in the hug of the forest and overlooking the clear mountain river with hot, open air bubble baths on tap.
The lounge and living deck has an open plan kitchen with fridge and freezer space. Meals are served here or outside on the verandah deck. Gentle and warm solar powered lights with evening log fires and candlelit dinners. The atmosphere is cosy in this outside living experience. And if you would like a view, there is a tower tree with a spiral staircase leading to a platform 30 feet high. A perfect perch for watching birds and monkeys in the canopy and taking in the euphony of sounds. Having a meal or a sundowner here, or even a place to sleep under the stars.

Its possible to book horse riding with Safaris Unlimited and further ventures to neighboring parks such as the Aberdare National Park or Solio known for its Rhino and Lion population. Sangare has so much to offer in itself with sundowner spots looking at Mt Kenya, game drive tracks with all plains game to view including Elephant, Leopard and Buffalo and 3 sections of fishable river.
