Wilder Living

A lifestyle in Kenya

We are a family of earth conscious creatives with a love for the natural world and for travel. We have been working in hospitality since we were 18 as well as being creative thinkers which comes into our environmentally friendly building and living style we have developed over the years.

We call ourselves The Wilder Living as we seem to always be nomadic, living on safaris and on the properties we have developed. We like to utilize what is around us to create something idyllic and ensure all endeavors are benefiting the surrounding environment and the people in it.

We strive to generate sustainable beneficial travel and conserve the pristine environments that we have created and look forward to sharing this all with you.

Martin Wheeler

Was born and raised in Lewa Downs Conservancy taking walking safaris with his Dad into the Lekerruki Conservancy  and Tassia. This natural world was his backyard and he became an expert on it. His guiding skills are exceptional. His wit and smart thinking are fun and outstanding. You’re in good hands with Martin on any adventure.

Martins is also creative; an artist, a self taught architect and a builder. He designed and built a few lodges and maintained Tassia for decades before now handing this back to the Mukogodo Maasai community whom he has worked closely with for many years.

He has a passion for falconry rescuing raptors and rehabilitating them back into the wild. Martin is also a fixed wing pilot, paraglider and a fishing guide. having worked in Alaska and then to the Kenyan coast as a charter boat skipper as well a mountain fly fishing guide.

He’s got survival skills and camping skills, how to get out of the mud skills..as well as being a permaculture land regenerating advocate.

All round he’s a brilliant host.

Kailani 9 is the oldest of our four children and our only girl. Closely followed by Tristan 8, her Irish twin. Shay 5 and Fin 2 were raised by the sea, in the wild of Tassia and on safari, on Sangare Conservancy and the wild farm Loltunda. She and her brothers go to a Waldorf system school and are mostly on safari when they are on holidays

They are keen YouTubers, survivors, naturalists, artists, videographers, free divers and fishermen as well as keen cooks and mountain bikers.

Having met and interacted with many guests  throughout their short lives they are great with other children bringing them into whatever they are doing, carving, making bows and arrows, jewelry making and hand lines for fishing.

Their schooling has taught them the joy to learn through creative thinking and the ability to  get lost in the simple joy of living and sharing their passions with others..
